Please be advised that the EPSB waived the requirement that all applicants for certification submit a state and a national background check for certification purposes at the August 15, 2015 and June 13, 2016 board meetings.
However, please note that local school districts are still required to conduct a criminal background check for all new certified hires in the school district and student teachers assigned within the district pursuant to KRS 160.380(5)(a), (b) and (d). Superintendents will be responsible for reporting the results of those background checks to the EPSB pursuant to KRS 161.120(2)(a) regardless of whether the criminal conviction predates the date of the application for certification.
