Troops to Teachers Program

Overview of Kentucky Troops to Teachers
Troops to Teachers (TTT) is a federally funded program. The purpose of TTT is to assist eligible military personnel to transition to a new career as public school teachers in “high-need” schools. Counseling, referral, and placement assistance in Kentucky is provided through the EPSB’s TTT Program.

Visit the TTT homepage which provides information and resource links. Pending the availability of funds, financial assistance may be provided to eligible individuals via stipends up to $5000 to help pay for teacher certification costs or via bonuses of $10,000. Stipend and bonus recipients must agree to teach for three years in school locations that meet certain Department of Education criteria. The maximum amount of assistance is $10K per person.
Specific requirements:

  • Stipends of up to $5000 are available to reimburse costs associated with becoming certified to teach. Recipients of these stipends must agree to teach for three years in a school located in an eligible district.
  • Bonuses of $10,000 are available to those who agree to teach for three years in an eligible district.

How do I get started?
Interested in Troops to Teachers? Visit the on-line registration at: . Please note that all degrees granted must be from a regionally accredited university to be recognized in Kentucky for teacher certification.   Additional helpful links are listed at the pages below.

ATTENTION for Bonus and Stipend Recipients - bonus applications, bonus updates and all applicable supporting documentation needs to be received by the T2T National Office before COB 15 September 2015 to be paid in FY15.  Additionally, to verify eligibility and expedite payment processing, legible copies of the participants employment contract, DD-214s, transcripts, LES, yearly point summaries etc. are required.   We have noticed a trend of DD-214's and transcripts that are too dark to read requiring resubmission of documents thereby delaying processing and payments.  Please ensure that the national office has your records and that they are legible and up-to-date.
